Tom,

I searched a couple other forums looking for a thread I had read some time ago concerning a very similar situation. I finally found it on sailnet and what do you know ...it was you. I can't offer any help, but if you know how to cut in a cabin top beam without f'ing up the beautiful teak beam carrier let me know.

It was about fifteen years ago with my girlfriend in Uclulet and our fishing boat. We had fished all day along the coastline without a bump so I laid down for a nap. Within minutes she gets me up to assist her in landing the big one. She could tell it was a big fish, but it was behaving in an odd way. After one short run it came straight up to the boat. Before the fish was a hot spot, but not the color she was using? Then the massive Tyee surfaces with a hoochy in it's mouth(she was using a cut plug).

At thirty two pounds it was the biggest catch of her life(besides me). There was just one thing....she didn't really catch it as much as drag across the set up the fish had been towing along the coast for who knows how long. She was one tired fish.
Well, when we got back to the dock I insisted she walk her bounty up for the official weigh-in. Biggest of the day. No mention of the catch details, but when asked by another fisher what she got it on she stuttered and was a bit unsure then came up with "a hoochy/heering combo". Might be worth trying!

As we sat in our boat that afternoon sipping a cool one and remembering the events of the day I thought she looked so beautiful in her fishy clothes and the the odd scale here and there so I asked her to marry me.

We don't fish much any more but we still love to reminisce about the time we spent in Uclulet.

Good luck,

Bill
