Man there's so much stuff to know when building or rigging, dats why ignorants like me jus recycle old boats which have already proven themselves n need a new sailor to sail em. Tom, I been hearin good tings about Silva bay n one of the founders of the boat school there is "Bob" who does melt lead n do all kinds of projects at his house. He built his own 32 fter n sailed her to New Zealand a few years back n would be a good guy to talk to re the ballast issue. I liked the idea of a glassed on shoe, maybe cast in a half pipe so it would be round n east to glass on, that way if you ever ground Tantramar you also have a protective keel. Dread if you even knocked it off at least you know Tantramar can sail without it! Dat big heavy rig may be a contributing factor also. I noticed Adams, "Tallowa" had a lot of rolling going on when we were headin back compared to "Petrel" and he floats a lot higher and has a heavier / taller rig. his cape 36 is light at the moment but the big heavy rig n extra height may make him more tender than he should be. Of course with the pilothouses that increases the problems even more. Hope ya get it all worked out by next summer or the sailor jerries will be mine! ha ha haaaaaaaargh! Right, I'm off to 13N 59W, in two weeks ...................cheap rum, sun, coconuts, banana's n fun, Adam
