leaking bulwarks

I've got a CG 36 that was finished in 1989. The bulwarks on the boat were finished in the old style, with wood inlays inside of the fiberglass hull. I started to notice leaks inside the cabin several years ago when I had the boat in Alaska. I suspect these leaks have been there for a while, but were exacerbated with the Alaskan winter freeze/thaw cycle. This winter the leaks have become pretty bad, and filling with 4200 hasn't solved the problem.

I've spoken with Todd at CG, and this is a common problem in CG's built like this. The fix is to pull the mast, uninstall all the hardware, take off the wood inlay, repair any damaged wood in the deck and frame, lay up fiberglass thickening the bulwarks, and reinstall all the hardware on the bullwarks. The problem is that this is very expensive. Even though the fix is permanent, it's a huge investment.

Has anyone out there had a similar problem? If so, have you undergone a repair? With CG or with someone else? Thanks for your help.
